A breathtaking, beautiful overlap

 

This #StuffMyGirlSays came up today. 

Age 10

“I hate it when I hear someone died in 2006.” 

(she was born in 2007)

I asked her why, and she answered, “I like when we share this life if only for a little bit.”

The poignant truth of her words is almost too much. 

Seventeen years was not long enough. It will never feel like enough. But Jess’s words remind me that what we did have was still a gift. A breathtaking, beautiful overlap. And I will celebrate that, even through the tears.
