18th Birthday Celebration

So moved by the outpouring of love for Jess's birthday! Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send messages. It warms our hearts so much.

We were not quite up to the usual Sprinkle tradition of cake for breakfast but have no fear,  her friends took up the tradition at the beach this morning!

Jess, I hope you feel all the love!!

A little Birthday follow up.

Last year #StuffTheMommySays, " How can my Itty bitty baby be 17 already?!"

This year #StuffTheMommySays, "How can my beautiful girl NOT be 18 today?

Yesterday was tough. But it was so much better than I could have expected thanks to all the outpouring of love from all of you!

Our day started with a few birthday themed #stuffmygirlsays 🙂

Age 17

"I'm almost a person now!"

(We always joked that you get to be a person, instead of a kid, at 18.)

Age 13

"We love you!"

#StuffMyGirlSays, "I love you more!"

Me, "Not possible!"

She, "How many years have you been trying that mom? Just give up. I love you more!"

Me, "Still not possible!"

Age 6

#StuffMyGirlSays, "Come on Dad, it's my birthday, I know everything now."

Age 5

#StuffMyGirlSays after being asked to wait a minute for a surprise, "Do you guys know what a minute is?"

Age 4

"I'm giving all the stuff I don't use any more away."

Me, "What a great thing to do on your birthday!"

She, "Mom, I am just pretending!"

Jess's friends kicked off the morning with a beachy sunrise cake. The day was littered with notes and cards from new and old friends who told us how much it meant to have had Jess in their lives. Presents were left at our door and so many heartfelt wishes were shared.

In the afternoon we had cake, a recurring theme on the day. Jess would be proud! And we worked on the yarn bombing of her tree at the school. (Dozens are crocheting a sweater for Jess's memorial tree- reveal photos to come.) And then we went out for dinner, with a couple of Jess's friends, to our family favorite restaurant, Tommy Bahamas. And had cheesecake for dessert!

If you haven’t yet, Jess would recommend that you have some cake (or apple pie) to join the celebration!
