Some fun from the old blog. Written when Jess was two. πŸ₯°

Jessie is fascinated by the fact that she is growing and her conversations often begin with statements like "When I am bigger I will have wings like Tinkerbell!" The other day I was greeted with "Mommy are you growing? I always growing!" and we had an entire conversation about what life was going to be like when she is bigger. Generally what interests her are things like using scissors, knives and other dangerous objects. Any time I tell her she can't do something she will ask "I do it when I bigger?" If I tell her yes that might end the discussion but sometimes she requests clarification. "Can I do it when I big like that kid or big like you mommy?" She has a couple of friends who are a year older so if I say big like Ellie she gets excited because "Big like Ellie not so far away!"

One of my favorite declaratives is "I growing RIGHT NOW!" Jessie delights in this fact and frequently lets me know what great new thing she will able to do next. "I climb up all by myself." Said while pointing at the large tree in our yard. "When I bigger I be a BIG READER!" This one is thanks to Clifford the Big Red Dog who himself is a big reader. "Mommy Big. Daddy Big. Jessie be big next."

I've tried to let her know that being the size she is now also has it's perks. You can ride on Daddy's shoulders because you are just the right size. When you are big like Mommy you can't do that anymore. Mommies and Daddies are too big to go down some slides, ride in some wagons and they won't fit in a certain fuzzy giraffe costume. Sometimes I think she understands but her zeal for getting bigger appears to overshadow; until she asks, "When I get bigger, do I have to be old too?" and then I realize she understands everything after all!
