Unexpectedly Fun
Some great #StuffMyGirlSays today, including this little Gem from when she was six:
Upon my delivery of two cookies instead of the expected ONE on her plate, "Mom, sometimes you're unexpectedly fun."
Exactly the words I need today!
It feels like this little memory is something to help me find my way back to the joy and whimsy Jess always believes in.
Grief is not fun. We know this. It is weighty and strange and exhausting in a way that can make “lightness” feel like betrayal. And yet… Jess.
Jess, who once dressed like a cat for three weeks straight. Jess, who cajoled every friend to join in adventures. Jess, who would sing and bounce EVERY day.
AND so, #StuffMyGirlSays feels like a guide book, made not of instructions, but of moments. Small ones. Silly ones. UNEXPECTEDLY FUN ones.
I’m still sad. I miss her deeply. But these little moments can be a map. A gentle nudge from Jess to let joy sneak back in, even now.
With that said, you can count on me to work on my "unexpectedly fun" game.
🤣 You have been warned. (This photo is one of my unexpectedly fun outfits to pair with my favorite and possibly expectedly fun shoes!)
Meanwhile here are some more fun #StuffMyGirlSays moments to inspire you today too!
Age 6
While using the tablet's voice search, "Really cute cat or chick videos that are so cute your shoes and socks fall off."
Interestingly enough, one of the videos that came up was about "cute french braid directions" which led to my hair being designed (2nd photo🤣 of unexpectedly fun hairdo!) and J making a "how to video" about it. Totally hilarious... (I will have to see if I can find the video. Or actually if Rob can! Xoxo Sweetie)
Age 5
"Mom I just noticed I have VERY shiny whites in my eyes. It is very beautiful." (everyday a new discovery!) :)
Age 4
"I like spicy things now! Like mayonaise!"
😂
Age 3
"Mom, I have an idea. Don't watch me and it won't be too dangerous."
