YES! So much this!
Since my awful journey's start in October, I have learned of so much sadness and grieving in the world. By landing in this terrible "club" I have become more approachable and I now ongoingly learn about people who are carrying their own grief. In my previous happily unaware bubble I would never hear of these things; not because I couldn’t have been an available ear, but because I lacked the understanding that inspires trust. Today I am a safe space when previously I wasn't. Now people know I can be trusted to carry the right amount of caring for people to be able to share their own sadness.
I honestly don't know know how I could have gotten here without my own horror but knowing that nearly everyone carries something that is sad or difficult, a world with more empathy and understanding is definitely worth reaching for.
---
i wish the world was kinder.
a little softer on those who are healing, grieving, waiting, or just starting to understand how lonely the road can be.
may we greet one another with the same kind of light that we ourselves are searching for.
just because we look strong doesn't mean we feel strong -
we just carry the heavy things well.
