Jess on Death

Starting out with a Bonus pic of Smudge and his girl, taken on January 2, 2020. 😺

It is an interesting wander in memories today. Throughout the years, on January 2nds, Jess talked about death. She actually did fairly regularly as a child. It was as if death was just another side of life and she was never particularly upset or worried by it. It was just something to think about.

Indeed her age 4 pronouncement of : "When people die, maybe that is called going on a trip and living forever." has given me a lot of solace these past couple of months.

Here are the #StuffMyGirlSays from the January 2nds over the years:

Age 11

Rob references psalm 23 ( shadow of death specifically):

 #StuffMyGirlSays

"Firstly, What you said disturbs me.

Secondly I don't want to watch a YouTube video about it."

lol Rob is always pulling up YouTube videos to explain things he referenced!

Age 7

#StuffMyGirlSays "I just said I saw it." Why? asks Dad. "Just so we don't have to talk about it for an hour" #noToleranceForSmallTalk

Dad asked if she saw something on our hike and she said "Yes." when in fact she didn’t.

Age 6

#StuffMyGirlSays regarding the pile of rocks and various stakes she placed in the yard, "If anyone in the family dies, this is where I want them to be buried."

She followed up with "How many flowers can I pick today? Graves need flowers you know."

I just toured the gravesite and she has also planted a magic flower which enables the viewer "to remember the fun things they did with the (buried) person."  That seems nice, although it is still unclear who shall be inhabiting the plot!!!

P.S. A magic flower would be really nice!

Age 5

"Does Santa ever have any girl reindeer pull his sled? He should sometimes."

Age 4

"If my Grandpa was still alive I would give him a spy camera so he could always watch me."

Age 3

As Rob and I were toasting to the New Year Jessie interjected, "Happy New Years guys! I love you very so much!" ❤️❤️❤️
