Snuggles evaporated

This post is 5 years old:

A #StuffMyGirlSays conversation:

She, "I can't snuggle in the morning anymore."

Dad, "Why?"

"It takes too long"

He, "That you can control. Just come in for a quick one minute snuggle."

"Dad, that's too hard. It is too hard to get up."

He, "Sometimes life is hard. You just have to do it. Your Mom and I have hard things to do everyday. You can do it."

She, "Dad, it's like you are training me for war. I am only 12 you know."

The morning Snuggles did evaporate shortly after this. Followed quickly by the "sleep overs" in my bed when Dad was traveling. I remember us really trying for a while but neither of us could sleep very well so we gave up and moved to the "watching a show together before bed" phase of our life.

I occasionally wished I tried harder to hang on to the snuggle and sleep overs but the next phase was beckoning. Our little girl was growing up. This next phase would be pretty great too.❤️
