Follow through and a Moth

One of the things I love about Jess is how she follows through when she commits to a plan. It could be annoying as a parent because she was always trying to negotiate out of a no if her heart was set on something.

Case in point this #stuffmygirlsays (age 5)  I shared a couple of weeks  ago:

"I know you already said no but I'd thought I'd check in one more time in case you want to say yes."   #nevergiveup πŸ˜‚

At the start of her (covid!) Freshman year, Ms. Rickards her teacher shared that she replied, in an introductory questionnaire form in Biology, under the question, “Is there anything else you'd like to tell Ms. Rickards about yourself?” Jess said “I’m going to be a moth for Halloween because they are pretty and are overlooked compared to their colorful brothers butterflies”

School starts in August here in Hawaii and Jess was alreading voicing her Halloween plan! Initially she looked for a moth costume online to buy but couldn't find what she wanted so decided she would make her costume.

She also had to convince her friends to join her, not all of which were excited to be bugs. πŸ˜† When that was decided (because how to refuse her? ) she even went on to making the wings for their costumes as well.

Her friend Jen told me , "She was very excited to hand make all of our wings and had the creative idea to use a magnet so we didn't have to have uncomfortable elastic around our arms."

This year she was going to be Dorothy with the Wizard of Oz witches. Jen, who is unsure about being green is probably going to go forward, because that is what Jess wanted them to do. πŸ’”πŸ’•
