Jessie's friend the moon

The moon, so big and bright the last couple of days, has woken me up a few times this week. I am certain that Jess is laughing right along with her friend!

This from an unfinished post when Jess was two

Jessie loves the moon. Since she could first say the word and even before, she would point at it madly, greeting it like a long lost friend. "Hello moon! How you doing?" is often heard from the backseat of our car when she spots it. Delightful games of hide and seek commence as it comes in and out of view while we drive, "Where the moon go? There he is, I see him. Hello moon."

Jessie also distinguishes the phases of the moon. "Itty bitty baby moon" is the slight crescent of a waxing or waning moon. Just plain "baby moon" is anything larger then a crescent up to about a half moon which then becomes "mommy moon" followed quickly by "daddy moon" which can be any especially big or bright moon.

Since the moon is most often viewed at night it is particularly delightful when the moon is visible during the day as it was yesterday when we were driving up to San Francisco to visit friends. "Look mommy! Baby Moon not sleeping! He wake up to see daylight!" When we were in the vicinity of SFO, Jessie was treated to the double delight of airplanes and the moon side by side. Jessie was happy to note, "Airplanes going, baby moon stay with us" and we had our moon companion all the way up to the city where it finally disappeared behind a large building. "Moon not stay in city with Jessie. We see him later."

We didn't see the moon later, or should I say I didn't see the moon later. Jessie fell asleep on the ride home and I did not look for our friend. Thankfully he looks for us often!

At another point in time, when she was about six I requested that she "be careful" and she replied that she would be "Careful as a Moondrop!" LOL I honestly didn't know if that was good or bad at the time but it delighted me nonetheless.

This is about the time I really started in earnest to gather all the fun #StuffMyGirlSays in one place, possibly to publish or something. Life took over and it never happened. This sweet image, made by my neighbor and friend Bilha Golan was possibly going to be the cover art on a that never finished book. πŸ₯°
